Design for Manufacture or DfM involves efficiently designing or engineering an object and system during the product design stage, when it is easier and less expensive to do so, to reduce manufacturing costs.
Total system manufacturing cost is a function of material, process, sub assembly, logistics and system assembly costs. Considering DfM early enough in the design phase is essential and this is where JRM can support. Having production facilities on site means we can draw knowledge from our own shop floor.
