Sean Walkinshaw (GBR) - NISMO Athlete


Career highlights:

Gaining NISMO Athlete status in 2016 after recording a podium finish in the 2015 Blancpain Sprint race at Brands Hatch and five other top-six finishes in the 2015 Blancpain GT Series, driving the NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 with customer teams. Ninth place in the European F3 Open Championship, regular podium finisher in the European F3 Open Copa Class, two race wins on his debut in the MSV F3 Cup, multiple podium finisher in the InterSteps Championship, point scoring success in the MRF Championship and various Formula Renault championships across Europe.

Driver profile:

JRM invited Sean to take part in a number of evaluation tests during 2014 and his ability to quickly adapt to the requirements of the NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 and his impressive testing pace was enough for JRM to sign Sean as its 2015 Development Driver in the Blancpain GT Series.

His talents were nurtured during the 2015 season and his driving ability shone through as he scored a podium at Brands Hatch and a sequence of other impressive results. His 2015 performances caught the eye of NISMO and he has been recruited as a NISMO Athlete in 2016. The 22-year-old will drive as part of the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN line up in the 2016 Blancpain GT Series.

Sean says:

“My customer programme with the GT-R in 2015 was a great platform on which I could learn about the car and the requirements of GT3 racing. It was a fantastic learning environment and I also think it was important to have a link to a successful and respected manufacturer like Nissan so early in my GT3 racing career.

"Achieving NISMO Athlete status after only one year in the GT-R has given me some good confidence and I’m expecting to be able to start the 2016 season very strongly.”

 

Craig Dolby (GBR)


Career highlights:

Podium finish in the 2015 Blancpain Sprint race at Brands Hatch and five other top-six finishes in the 2015 Blancpain GT Series, driving the NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 with customer teams. Two-time runner up in Superleague Formula Championship with six wins and 23 podiums, class winner on his debut in the GT Open Championship driving the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, Formula Renault 1600 Champion, British Open karting champion.

Driver profile:

A vastly experienced competitor in various motorsport formulae, Craig worked with JRM in 2014 to test the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. The 28-year-old made an instant impact with his strong performances on track and desire to succeed. He was therefore rewarded with a drive in the Blancpain GT Series in 2015.

Craig runs a successful PRO driver and coaching business and will continue to support JRM as part of delivering driver coaching programmes. He will also take the wheel in selected customer programmes as part of the development of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 business.

Craig says:

“Having shown my speed during testing, it was fantastic to be rewarded with a PRO contract in the 2015 Blancpain GT Series. JRM see the benefit in rewarding drivers that have natural speed and are prepared to work hard.

 

Martin Plowman (GBR) - Now driving with McLaren GT


Career highlights:

A PRO driver for JRM’s driver programmes with the NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 in 2015. Qualified in P1 for the second qualifying session at the Nürburgring Blancpain Endurance event. World Endurance Championship LMP2 champion, Le Mans 24h LMP2 class winner, runner up in the American Le Mans Series, three races in IZOD Indycar Series, two seasons in Indy Lights Series, Formula Renault race winner, multiple karting champion.

Driver profile:

Having won championships at the highest level in international motorsport, Martin was keen to progress his career by switching to a suitable GT3 programme in Europe. Given his impressive CV and experience in various single-seater and sports car formulas, JRM selected Martin to join its PRO driver line up for the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series and he proved to be a valuable member of the team.

Martin says:

“Ever since I started my career, I have wanted to be a professional driver and race against the best competition in the world. Being part of JRM’s PRO driver line up gave me that opportunity and helped me become part of a very talented and reliable team.
